History

The Green Day Nursery was opened in 1988, and was taken over by the current owners in 2003.

We are situated in Kings Norton, Birmingham, a residential area in the south of the city, next door to the local Primary School on the Pershore Road South (A441). Ideally situated for people who commute into the City, or live and work locally. We have been part of the community for over 30 years.

We are Ofsted registered and cater for up to 60 children, from babies to pre-school nursery children, and a before and after school club. We are family run, with a substantial number of staff now welcoming the children of previous children to our nursery. Long established team members give the nursery continuity, maturity and experience, and support our younger members of staff and apprentices. We are one big family that likes to see everyone grow, children and staff alike.

Family Ethics

Each child and family are unique and we welcome everyone to our family nursery, taking into account their cultures, beliefs, religion, special needs etc.

We celebrate different festivals across the year including Diwali, Chinese New Year, Eid, St David’s Day and as our family grows and changes, so do we. We embrace the cultures of all the children and families that make up our nursery.

We continually endeavour to provide unique opportunities for our children and families, which includes keeping part of our outdoor space as a garden to play in and to grow fruit and vegetables. We have hatched chicken and quail eggs and have the most recent chickens in our garden. We have had visiting sheep with their lambs and visits from more exotic animals such as iguanas and parrots.

We pride ourselves with our parent partnerships, which starts with the online learning journeys that are accessible to all parents with a mobile phone. This has been invaluable throughout COVID-19 and continues to enable parents to forge relationships with staff, particularly their child’s Key Worker. We are looking forward to being able to invite parents into Nursery for Stay and Play, face to face consultations and general chats when Government guidelines allow.
